Bell Vertical Robotics Competition
The future of flight is evolving and so are STEM-based competitions. The 2021 BELL Vertical Robotics Competition (BELL VRC) will include students representing high schools from across Texas (and beyond) with 3 regional competition events (2 in the DFW area and 1 in the Austin, TX area) with each event having 20 high school teams participating. These teams, led by coaches, mentors and teachers will design, build and test their solutions to achieve the competition Search & Rescue Challenge. Details about the new competition season will be available soon! To earn success, teams will have 8 weeks to work together in a collaborative manner to optimize their design solutions with Robotics, Actuation, Mechanisms, Coding and Autonomy to achieve the mission.

Event Two
This course will teach you where Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies can be applied for design or economic advantage. You will learn lightweighting AM technologies, trends and applications in transportation industries. This course will help you demonstrate problem-solving skills in lightweighting through analysis of case studies, as well as, learning the fundamentals of materials science and how to improve properties such as strength, stiffness and ductility in a wide array of lightweight material options. Gain understanding of the use of advanced materials databases (e.g., Granta) and the impact of key market drivers on the selection criteria for critical applications in the transportation industry. Continuing Education Units: 0.8 hours
