A healthy defense industrial base is a critical element of the national security. The ability of the nation to surge in response to an emergency depends on the ability to produce needed parts and systems and secure supply chains. The Industrial Base Foundation supports the creation of a skilled U.S. workforce with the Industrial Base Consortium, bringing together industry and government stakeholders through a structured engagement forum.

The Industrial Base Consortium was launched to meet the needs addressed in the National Defense Strategy, establishing an unmatched twenty-first century National Security Innovation Base that effectively supports defense operations and sustains security and solvency. The Industrial Base Consortium will create a flexible mechanism for a public-private collaboration across a range of specific industrial base sectors and requirements in order to strengthen the US industrial base and improve US competitiveness.
